Bathing daily is a personal hygiene habit; it helps to wash away dirt, reduce body odour and create a physical appearance of cleanliness. But simple bathing with soap may not be sufficient to protect us from falling prey to infections. One should mix few drops of an antiseptic liquid like Dettol Antiseptic Liquid in bathing water. Antiseptic liquids not only kills bacteria on the skin but also kills bacteria that are in the water. Most houses have overhead tanks for storage of water sourced from the municipal supply system or bore well. These tanks are known to be contaminated, most of the times. Disease -causing micro organisms - Salmonella bacteria, Entameba histolitica and giardia - are found in abundance in these tanks. Let alone drinking water, even usage of bathing water from these tanks can lead to infections. So avoid using bathing water from these tanks without adding antiseptic liquid. It might not just cause infection but also prove fatal at times.
